SUMMARY:NEMO2024: Different Perspectives of a Digital Innovator
DESCRIPTION:Different Perspectives of a Digital Innovator\nInnovation is th
e only way the EU can maintain a strong\, sustainable and competitive econ
omy. However\, at present\, there are large imbalances between the degrees
of innovation of EU countries. One solution to mitigate this drawback con
sists of the development of collaborative networks that replicate the best
models of innovation from advanced countries and adapt them to underdevel
oped countries in Europe. Such a collaboration exists between Lucian Blaga
University of Sibiu\, OMiLAB community\, and local industrial partners. T
his lecture emphasizes both the importance of innovation\, challenges invo
lved\, especially in modest innovator countries of EU\, and different pers
pectives of a Digital Innovator\, starting from environment\, target domai
ns and specific activities\, human resources\, and education curricula. Fi
nally\, there are presented some practical examples from ULBS\, pilot proj
ects targeting industry or agriculture cases aiming to boost the regional
innovation.\nSpeaker\nAdrian FLOREA obtained his MSE (1998) at Lucian Bla
ga University of Sibiu (ULBS) and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the P
olitehnica University of Bucharest\, Romania (2005). At present he is Prof
essor in Computer Science and Engineering at the Lucian Blaga University o
f Sibiu\, Romania. Adrian is an active researcher in the fields of High Pe
rformance Processor Design and Simulation\, Dynamic Branch and Value Predi
ction. He has worked over 20 years in interdisciplinary national and inter
national research projects dealing with issues such as optimization proble
ms in different engineering domains (microprocessors systems\, suspension
design and reliability\, energy efficiency in buildings\, smart electricit
y)\, embedded systems with applicability in Smart City (smart parking\, ur
ban mobility\, smart traffic)\, creating digital tools for supporting comm
unities of practice\, mobile computing. He has published over 9 (didactic
and scientific) books and 89 scientific papers in some prestigious journal
s (ISI Web of Science) and international top conferences in Romania\, USA\
 , UK\, Italy\, Germany\, China\, Slovenia\, Korea\, Latvia\, Spain\, India
\, Poland etc. He received Tudor Tanasescu Romanian Academy Award 2005\, f
or the book entitled Microarchitectures simulation and optimization (in Ro
manian) and Ad Augusta Per Angusta Award for young researcher\, received f
rom Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu in June 2007\, for special results ob
tained in scientific research. Since 2012 he is HiPEAC affiliate member an
d\, since 2020 he is ACM Professional senior member. He is researcher in t
he European Union’s Horizon 2020 innovation programme under grant agreem
ent No 731724\, Infrastructure and integrated tools for personalized learn
ing of reading skill – iRead and is the technical coordinator of the Era
smus+ KA2 strategic project The FoF-Designer: Digital Design Skills for Fa
ctories of the Future. Since 2019 professor Florea is leading the HPI Know
ledge Transfer Centre at ULBS.\nBecome a Digital Leader!\nThe 10th Edition
of the NEMO Summer School will take place at the University of Vienna bet
ween July 15th and 26th\, 2024\, from 09:00 to 17:30 CEST and explores the
Digital Innovation Environment (https://www.omilab.org/brochure) of OMiLA
 B. Learn Conceptual Modelling to innovate\, design\, and engineer digital
ecosystems!\nMore information about the program at: NEMO2024 Program Over
